For Square One Management, which rents apartments within walking distance of UC-Berkeley, we initially planned to build their WordPress site within the framework of a popular property rental plugin. But once we’d filled the plugin with content, we were sorely disappointed by the slowness of its back-end, and the user interface elements that could confuse the client.
So instead, with the help of “Advanced Custom Fields” (the Swiss Army knife of back-end customization WordPress plugins), we created our own highly customized interface.
The site, based on designs by Carbonated Agency, features:
- Homepage Google map with custom markers, colors, displays, and bubble window, using Google Maps API v3
- Multiple image sliders
- Detailed apartment search tool
- Accordioned & tabbed pages with toggles
